What You’ll Do

Your offbeat adventure begins with an early morning pick-up from your hotel in Jaipur at 5:30 AM. Relax on a scenic 3.5-hour drive to Bharatpur in your private AC car as your guide shares stories of Maharajas, Jat kings, and migratory birds that travel from Siberia.

Arrive in Bharatpur and enter Keoladeo Ghana National Park - a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Hop on a cycle-rickshaw with a trained naturalist rickshaw puller and glide through wetlands and woodlands for 2.5 hours. Spot painted storks, pelicans, kingfishers, owls, eagles and if lucky, pythons. The rickshaw pullers know every bird call and best spots.

After a tea break, take a short 30-minute drive to Deeg - the hidden summer capital of Jat Maharajas. Explore the stunning Deeg Water Palaces - Keshav Bhawan, Gopal Bhawan and Suraj Bhawan. See 500 fountains that still work on water pressure alone, beautiful gardens, and lake palaces that most tourists in Rajasthan never see.

Enjoy a delicious local lunch at a family restaurant overlooking the palace. Then take a short walk through Deeg Fort and its old bazaars - 8 km of massive walls, ancient markets, and heritage lanes perfect for photography.

After a day of birds and palaces, drive back comfortably to Jaipur (approx. 3.5 hours). You’ll be dropped off at your hotel by 7:00-7:30 PM with memories of an offbeat Rajasthan.

• This is a private tour - car and guide will be exclusive for your group only.
• We recommend 5:30 AM start for best bird activity. Birds are most active 8-11 AM.
• Tour involves approx. 380 km total driving - be prepared for a long day of 12-13 hours.
• All-inclusive option includes all tickets and rickshaw to make it hassle-free.

Know Before You Go

• Best time for birds is October to March when migratory birds arrive from Siberia. Deeg fountains run best in monsoon (July-September) but palace is beautiful all year.
• This is a full-day experience - be prepared for approximately 12-13 hours with 7 hours of driving.
• Keoladeo Bird Sanctuary is flat - easy walk. Deeg Palace has 20-30 stairs only. Wear comfortable shoes, hat and sunglasses.
Carry binoculars if you have, camera with zoom lens (200mm+ recommended for birds), water and sunscreen.
• Rickshaw pullers in Bharatpur are trained naturalists - a tip of Rs. 100-200 is appreciated.
Photography is allowed everywhere but no flash inside bird sanctuary. B
• ird sightings are wild - not guaranteed, but in season you will easily see 30-50 species.
• Carry some cash - small shops and rickshaw charges in Bharatpur don't accept cards.
